Sil-Kleer Filter Aids

Origins

Sil-Kleer Filter Aids are made from perlite, a naturally occurring volcanic glass, that "pops" like popcorn when heated rapidly. The expanded particles are milled and sized to create the various grades.

Purity

Unlike diatomaceous earth (sometimes called diatomite, DE, or kieselgur) perlite is processed without the use of any foreign substances, insuring its purity. Sil-Kleer grades are produced at temperatures above 1800 degrees Fahrenheit, eliminating the possibility of any organic contamination. Non-perlitic grit has been removed from all Sil-Kleer grades, ensuring low abrasion on pumps, seals, and filter cloths throughout the system.

Economic Advantage

The use of Sil-Kleer filter aid results in an economic advantage, due to reduced use, extended filter cycles and increased flow versus diatomaceous earth. These benefits can be obtained on both pressure and vacuum filters.

Benefits

    · U.S. Food Chemicals Codex and Kosher Approvals

    · Longer Filter Cycles

    · Reduced Abrasion on Equipment

    · Used in both Pressure and Vacuum Filters

    · Non-Hazardous: Low Free Silica

    · Easy Cake Release

    · Dosage Reductions Possible

    · Reduced Disposal Weights

    · Increased Ability to Reprocess Filter Cake
